Lynn McQuarrie visited Ukraine in summer 2001 and 2002.
Summary of Ukraine Visit 2001 (Alliance meeting in Edmonton minutes)
"Lynn McQuarrie informed the group and shared pictures of her visit to the Summer Institute this past July. Approx. 120 people were involved in this years camps. Three locations were involved. 1 - Lviv, 2 - West of Ukraine in Kharkiv and 3 - Odessa. A wrap up meeting of all the institute's instructors was then held. Over 11 regions were involved in this project this year. This institute is seen as incredibly powerful. It provides a great opportunity for Ukrainian teachers of the Deaf to get together and discuss issues as well as for the students to realize they are not alone. There is a big feeling of isolation in the Ukraine. People in Ukraine are very eager for change and in advancing their skills. They are ready for a 'new vision'. Biggest pressing issue is in the research and in sign language. "
